Out of curiosity, what did it cost you? Cuz I probably have to use takkyubin when I come back. Transport companies are very competitive and consequently fast and efficient in J-land. I also like the post office there because they deliver on Sundays and if you're not home, you can call them and they'll come out and redeliver on the same day, until 9 p.m.
it was 8000yen for five REALLY big-ass, heavy, overweight pieces. which is only about 1600 each. i thought that was not bad. they delivered the next day (we didn't get to the office until about 7 - maybe if you get in earlier in the day, they could do same day?) around noon - i was asked what time i would like them delivered, and i said it didn't matter. c. looked it up on the internet, and she said that they all had almost exactly the same prices. we just went with NPS because they were persuasive. the cat company didn't have any clappers yelling loudly and gesturing for us to approach their counter, or else i would have gone with them for recognition's sake.
That's good to know. I heard that the airline co. made you take stuff out of your suitcase. What did you do with the stuff you took out? Did you have to carry it with you as carry-on? (carrion)
yes, the stupid airline told us when we got to check in that they "didn't accept overweight items". even though it says on their website that you can just pay extra. so they SOLD us a duffel bag and made us REPACK some of our stuff in it until all of our bags were less than 70# each. then charged us $77 for the new, additional bag. lovely. no, not hanging from the chandelier. up in the stairwell. the only way i could get a good angle on all that crap. but i used my hand beater today to make the bread. so it was all worth it.
