takashi murakami's statue in roppongi hills. i'm not a huge fan of some of his other stuff, but i do like his sculpture stuff. the pond dates from the edo period and is filled with medaka fish, which are descended from the fish born in space, taken up by astronaut noguchi.

Fish born in space goes with the alien looking character. In fact, the statue looks like an alien fish.
yeah, there's some trash on the placard about how this exhibit is the epitome of tokyo, mixing old and new, since there are space fish in and edo-era pond.
oh yeah, regarding cultural sophistication: damn straight.
