野長瀬晩花

This one is also by Banka Nonagase. It is called 「スペインの田舎の子供」 "Children in the Spanish Countryside". Apparently he traveled and painted in Spain.

Banka Nonagase

I was surfing the internet and I found some paintings done by our great great uncle (Minori Nonagase Takigawa's uncle), Banka Nonagase. This one is entitled 「女人図屏風」 "Women on a folding screen". There is a picture of him on this website. The text is all Japanese though.http://www.agara.co.jp/DAILY/20030921/20030921_001.html . He seems to be pretty famous and is in a lot of museums in Wakayama. Also, FYI he was born in Wakayama Prefecture, in Nakahechi town and lived from 1889 ~ 1964.

danny-boy

we saw danny devito today.
after ian's almost-surgery at kaiser-sucko-permanente, we went to grab some brunch at india sweets and spices, a tiny dive hole in the wall market with a food counter of very cheap and delicious vegetarian food. walking back to the car, we passed the very pleasant starbucks in culver city. ian nudged me.
"hey... that's danny devito."
ian always sees the stars. i can be standing right next to him and miss it. he ran into willem dafoe at whole foods, and saw michael penn at a pizza place in santa monica. i did see danzig in the bookstore in little tokyo, though.
i looked side to side without moving my head. walked a few more steps. then, surreptitiously as possible, glanced around. sure enough, mr. deVito himself. the penguin. ahnold's twin in Twins. wearing a baseball cap pulled kind of low, but unmistakable. about time. i mean, what did i move to LA for, anyway?

沖縄に行ってきた！

the sky was grey, but the ocean was marvelously blue! it was really beautiful. and the weather was still much warmer than tokyo. that's my silhouette

and the sun is really bright and in my eyes! It was cloudy while we were there and even rained a bit. But the morning we left the sun came out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
