i'm in corvallis for the weekend - today is deirdre's bridal shower, and i'm also going to try and go through some of my stuff. tonight dad and i are going to do a photo-posting tutorial so that he, too, can post with illustrations.

We picked Katie up on St Patrick's Day in front of a bar in Yokosuka. She was a newborn puppy dog with eyes closed. She lived with us for 19 years.

Mom sent me this photo that Asako sent of her very own cat club.

mom was the true pro. after one day of skiing, or rather, 4 hours of skiing, I had had enough and retired early. The following day we decided to go on a snow trek and skip the slopes... 

we went skiing in hakuba in Nagano prefecture!!! I think it's been 10 years almost! I fell down tons, but at least there were no ski lift incidents!

Hello

Hello, yes I know I've been kind of busy. I'm sorry. How is everyone? I am doing very well. I am waiting for a transfer to the Tigard store which is just down the road from me. It's a much shorter drive. It's a bigger store (Oregon's #1 winco sales wise) and is much nicer. I think I will enjoy working there.
I do spend a lot of my time talking to Jessica. We seem to find things to talk about even when they are totally random and otherwise stupid. It's something else.
I am looking forward to buying property up here sometime. I think it will be a great step forward for us, and myself in particular. I know some may have had doubts, but I definately believe I am responsible enough to take this on. Southwest/West Portland/Area is where I'm looking.
I still want to study, but I'm so undecided about what! I will probably just take a few classes here and there if nothing else to enrich myself. I may decide to go with a business degree. I still don't know. There's so much I want to learn.
My internet SUCKS. Just FYI when i'm signing on/off etc it's because I'm on wireless internet (free through my apartment) and it's very erratic. I have a hard time keeping a good signal for more than a minute or two. I will definately be investing in a good connection wherever I end up next.

Well that is all for now, it's 4:30 am and I need some sleep. Good days to you all :D

Sunroom is wrapped

Sheathing is up on all sides. Now the fun begins - trying to hide all of my mistakes and seal things up good. Then painting and interior work; paneling, ceiling, fan with light, carpet, trim, yada, yada, yada. My right hand is numb from operating the air driven nailer. I can barely write my name. But I'm having a lot of fun. I think there is a future in this construction stuff. Perhaps buying handyman specials and renovating them then sell for profit. Maybe.

Where did the Winter and Spring go? It's already summer here, at least for the moment.

san jose, one more day

we missed our flight!
like a dumbass, i looked at the wrong time on our itinerary... we showed up at the airport promptly three hours before our flight from phoenix to los angeles. unfortunately, our flight from san jose to phoenix had left two hours earlier.

so we are in beautiful san jose one day more. today we'll check out the contemporary museum of art and design, the market shops which were closed yesterday, and we'll eat cinnamon ice cream and young coconuts, called pipas here, rather than cocos helados as they're called in mexico.

Mom had pollen allergies the entire time, but after soaking in the spa for a while, she found temporary relief.  

Today we drove to the Izu peninsula in Shizuoka prefecture. We dipped in onsen and visited many waterfalls! It was tons of fun!

what's better than riding through the jungle on a bicycle? perhaps all the butterflies on the way. arriving at a beautiful warm beach! here's one of me in the jungle.

Today is Hinamatsuri! Doll Festival! Although we didn't do anything... I looked at Hinamatsuri pictures of when Arisa was a little girl. It's butt cold here and mom is sick with something.

hi guys. i wrote you this email from cahuita, but it looks like it bounced back, probably due to really shitty connection:

a quick note to let you know that i am alive and safe. writing you from this account because i'm in the total boonies, using dial up internet, and my yahoo account will not work. today we swam a lot in the ocean and walked through the
jungle and saw a lot of monkeys: spider and howler types. also a raccoon and tons of lizards and ian saw a sea turtle. anyway we are well and having lots of fun. it's beautiful.

now i'm in the town of puerto viejo, a bit livlier with a few more services. a single ATM! working internet! a post office!
