THE END IS IN SIGHT

Today I sign the sale papers for this house and Friday we sign the papers for the new house. After lots of stressful days and nights, it looks like everything will pan out according to plan. We are packing today and will load up the truck tonight and tomorrow, then drive up to Portland tomorrow night. Everyone keep those positive thoughts and good karma going. My back and hips are better and I am almost back to normal - maybe 85% of my bad self, not my good self. Kowabunga!

Imperial Hotel

hi all. i was looking for an excuse to post, but nothing exciting is happening right now so yeah... i am just going to school. thought i would excite you all with a link to the temporary job i am at right now. it is through the same company i teach Isuzu for. But this one is a two week assignment at the Imperial Hotel teaching hostesses. I am teaching "service english" for parties. it's pretty interesting. http://new-service-system.com/
technically i am teaching girls that are not employed with the hotel itself, but an escort service company within the hotel called NSS. sorry for the bore... later

HOUSE INSPECTIONS

Yesterday we had the inspection for the house we are buying and today for this house. Some semi-minor problems with the new place and very minor issues on this one. A leak under the sink, the GFI outlet in the sunroom is defective or broken. A couple of other minor items. Looks good for this place to go through to closing.

The Beaverton house has a few other issues: some roof shingles missing or defective, dryer vent disconnected and venting to the attic, bathroom vent incorrectly vented, furnace at the end of its life, family room needs new carpet, smoke detectors need to be replaced (owner's responsibility) and some other minor stuff.

Things seem to be going ok on both ends and we should be closing on both houses on the 29th. I'll keep you posted.

Today we went to the 46,000th day festival at Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. It was thronging with people buying these plants by the branch and the pot. I managed to light a few candles in the fray, and we wandered the grounds and ate some snacks. It's a cool place, and Kannon is a main deity for this temple.

map of 13520 Butner Rd

i got a little over excited and went on map hunts... found a satelite of the house through google too. it's east of murray blvd. to the north of perfecta avenue.

ENTERED ESCROW X2

We entered escrow today for the Corvallis house, closing scheduled hopefully for the end of the month. Kevin and I also entered escrow on a house we found in Beaverton. The address is 13520 Butner Rd, Beaverton, Or 97005; if any of you want to do a map search. We also plan to close on that house at the end of the month. The new house was built in 1966, is a three bedroom 1.5 bath ranch style house on .22 acres (9580 square feet lot). It has a living room and a family room with a fireplace. Also a two car garage with space for extra parking. Gas furnace and water heater. Separate range and oven (vintage electric), though I am considering remodeling the kitchen, depending on cost and time. Hardwood floors throughout most of the house - the family room is old carpet and we will either put new carpet in there or wood. The initial plan (Kevin's) is to make that room into a movie room. We will also have ADT security systems installed and monitored - fire and theft. Pictures and more info to follow.
